Heres the sticker I mentioned. This one is on the 911, and hidden behind the driver's door jamb, at least that's what I think it's called...

It means there were two Germanys at that time. One regular, capitalist Germany (west), and one communist controlled (east).

If I recall correctly the word starting with K basically translates paint so I'd guess it might be the paint code?

I have no idea what the numbers mean. Probably something to do with the date of manufacture.

Yep! it means paint, that is a hell of a word for 'paint'.

Kunstharzlack = kunst/artifical, harz/enamel-resin, lack/paint or varnish.

Quick interweb search says that it's actually the paint sticker. the 027 means 'Guards Red', can't find a thing on the other digits.

I can decode it.

First three digits = paint code

Middle digit = factory that painted car

Last digit = paint manufacturer

So yours is:

027 = Guards Red

9 = Porsche

2 = Glasurit

Here's your VIN decoded also:

West Germany, Porsche, sports car, 911 Coupe, 911 SC, no airbags, before MY2009, 1984, Neckarsulm Audi factory, Serial number 60356

No worries, I caught on there after awhile. I was lost as I read 911SC, but then I did a double read, and saw 1984, and Neckarsulm factory(where the 924 and 944 were built), and it hit me haha.

Thanks :)

Oh. I don't know about that.

Well, I'm probably the oldest person on Oppositelock at 72, I live in Dallas, have 2 children and 5 grandchildren, and talk to Brian, Rusto, and Mac the most of anyone on here.

What's it like in Dallas?

My particular neighborhood is terrific but the traffic can be frustrating in the main city. My wife and I also have a ranch outside of Austin and it's definitely relaxing to be in nature and away from all of the congestion.

You live in Detroit, correct? How is it there?

I've always wondered what it's like on a ranch, must be a paradise in comparison to everyday life.

I actually live in a city not to far from Detroit called Southfield. It's nice where I am, once you go further past the infamous "8 mile"(I'm sure you've heard of it, or the movie) it isn't so friendly anymore.

Detroit is alright, depending on when and where you are. It can be good or bad, but I rarely, if ever go there by choice.

It is indeed. The ability to sit on your back porch and just drink coffee in the morning without worrying about neighbors and just being able to soak in the sounds of nature is terrific.

Interesting. I have been to Detroit in over a decade but the photos I've seen of it recently are quite disheartening. It's amazing how a city can go from so prosperous to a shell of its old self.

Are there quite a few car events around your area?

That is just outstanding.

It truly is disappointing how far Detroit has fallen; and everyone talks of Detroit coming back like a comeback tour, I just don't see it at all. :(

There are a few events around here. There are two C&C events, one in Birmingham, another at one of Lingenfelter's showrooms in Novi.

What events do you have in Dallas?

Well, I hope it does but I don't have much hope.

A huge C&C each month and a few groups that get together to just cruise.
